Welcome to the English Life

Hello students and parents,

This is the first week of classes. I know you are all excited and maybe a little stressed out that summer is over. I will go over how this blog works in class on Monday. I have emailed all of you the web address and hopefully you will have looked this over before class on Monday, if you do not have time no worries.

The first day of class will be spent going over the website and syllabus in each class. I will hand out a paper copy and upload a full syllabus after the first day. You will have a weekly agenda posted on this blog every week. Along with a short post daily that lets you know what was covered in class.

American Lit:

Monday: Syllabus and the website

Tuesday: Talk about the Native American texts I have selected to read

Homework: Find one text of my chosing or your own that you are interested in and bring it to class on Wednesday.

Wednesday: Group work reading individual texts of Native American Writing and discussion in small groups. Prepare to discuss your work with the class. If you feel one class period is not enough to prepare for the class discussion we will go into Thursday in small groups.

Thursday: Class discussion/Small groups

Friday: Class discussion

Homework: Short essay no more than 2 pages on a text you are interested in. It must be a different text than what you presented to the class from your small group. Due: Monday.

English 9:

Monday: Syllabus and website. Introduction to Quote Books

Tuesday: Work on quote books. We will go over the criteria and on Tuesday I will put up a link on your page with the outlined criteria.

Wednesday: Quote Books

Thursday: Presentation of quote books

Friday: Presentation of quote books/overview Of Mice and Men.
